Ironclad Press is Luke Martinez, and Luke Martinez is Ironclad Press.

Luke Martinez is a writer of comics and RPGs from California's San Joaquin Valley. Luke was raised in  families who migrated to California to work in the fields from both Dust Bowl Era Oklahaoma and Mexico. A lover of all things nerdy, he has been gaming, reading comics, and creating for both virtually his entire life.

Luke is also a High School teacher (both English and History) and an Adjunct Professor of History at the College of the Sequoias. He earned a BA and MA in History from CSU Fresno, and was ABD in a History PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds an MA in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Ironclad Press first produced the Graphic Novel The Ascendant, which was funded through Kickstarter and published in 2018. Since 2020 Ironclad has also produced the webcomic Storm Riders, a black and white D&D-inspired fantasy story. In addition, Luke has also written the short comics !Abuelita! (about his grandmother), Balance (a one pager) and No Good Deed (a black and white horror story). He is currently working on Daughter of the Underworld, a Latinx Space Opera, and its prelude/demo issue is available on this website.

Luke is a member of the Advisory board for the Latinx Comic Arts Festival, and has participated in panels at that Festival in 2019, 2020, and 2021. He has also appeared on Panels at the Small Press Expo and San Diego Comic-Con. These panels have covered topics including teaching with comics, independent comic publishing, and Latinx and Native American Representation.
